The Russo Brothers are teasing the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans again as they share shiny updates regarding Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars while being at the world premiere of their latest flick, The Electric State. From the Russo Brothers' recent conversation, we know where they were filmed and maybe something about X-Men's involvement.
Marvel recently saw Captain America: Brave New World, which fanned the flames of the multiverse. The others will be there, but we don't know who the others are. Doomsday and Secret Wars, like Infinity War and Endgame, will be released back to back, with the creators keeping a gap of a year between them.
Were the Russo Brothers hiding something regarding Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars?
Deadline's Natalie Sitek caught up with the duo, who shared a couple of things about the next big thing in the MCU. First off were the details regarding the filming for which Joe Russo said,
"It’s all in London, we’re shooting them fairly back-to-back, it’s a lot of work again, we may or may not survive, we’ll see. But we’re very excited about it. We found a way into the story that we think is gonna be challenging for audiences, it’s challenging for us to execute."
The next big question was if X-Men were there in the film or not. Joe clearly denied that he didn't know.
"Who knows? I don’t know. I don’t know who we’re gonna see. I still don’t know."
He clearly was being playful for the upcoming films and it's obvious they aren't going to spoil the fun.
Phase Six will kick off with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, of which we recently got the trailer that gave the MCU its first family. It is still a mystery - why Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards didn't flex his body in there. The film is scheduled for a release on July 25, 2025, and will be followed by Avengers: Doomsday next year.
But these are the films we are talking about; we have a few TV series in between, including Eyes of Wakanda, Wonder Man, and more. We already know Robert Downey Jr. will appear in Doctor Doom and may give a cameo in the Fantastic Four film.
We still don't have a synopsis for Avengers: Doomsday, but Screen Rant's Russ Burlingame points out that Emperor Doom could serve as a template for the film.
