Emily and Zooey Deschanel's childhood homes are among the many houses that have been burned down by the destructive Pacific Palisades Fire. In an Instagram post on January 17, Jooey left a heartfelt tribute to her home, which she called "a marvel of 1920s Spanish revival architecture", and "one of the oldest homes in the Palisades."
"It was not a mansion but it was cozy and lovely and unique and perfect to me. One of my friends growing up called it 'The Church' because of the 14 foot ceilings with stained glass windows in the living room cast colorful shadows at the end of the day."
Zooey Deschanel, while remembering the lost home, recalled her childhood memories of her family's Christmas dinners, Easter egg hunts, trick or treating, weddings, birthdays, and baby showers at the home.
While noting down the 12,300 structures that were destroyed in the Palisades and Eaton fires, Zooey Deschanel mentioned,
"Along with another beautiful LA neighborhood, Altadena, the streets of my childhood in Pacific Palisades have been all but erased as we knew them. So many people have lost so much."
The Palisades fire erupted around 10:30 local time on January 7, including wildfires breaking in other parts of LA, including Eaton, Hurst, and more.
