The Passion Of The Christ: Resurrection will go into production in 2025
The first announcement of The Passion Of The Christ sequel came in 2016. For two years after that things were reportedly sluggish until a confirmation from lead star Jim Caviezel in 2018 revealed that the movie is still in development.
But, the latest updates have confirmed that filming will begin in 2025 and Mel Gibson is now searching for locations in Malta. Even parts of Morocco and Israel are also being considered for shooting purposes, as per reports.
Randall Wallace continues working on the screenplay alongside Mel Gibson. He reportedly said in a statement:
"The Passion is the beginning and there's a lot more story to tell.'
According to Gibson's publicist, Alan Nierob told Variety:
"All we can confirm is they were scouting locations recently. Not a lot to discuss at this early stage."
Earlier in 2024, it was confirmed that Wallace had finished working on the script of The Passion Of The Christ: Ressurection. The much-anticipated sequel will now dive into "the past and in other realms," according to a description provided by director Gibson.

The plot is mostly about the final hours of Jesus Christ and other related events. However, the Jim Caviezel starrer film received multiple Academy Award nominations. Additionally, the film grossed more than $612 million globally. It further set an unbreakable record in the United States box office earning almost $371 million. Mel Gibson has further revealed his plans to bridge the time gap between the two movies. He said:
