Top Gun: Maverick's Glen Powell is all set to star in the upcoming Barry Jenkins' film The Natural Order, based on an unpublished manuscript by Matthew Aldrich, according to Variety. The actor has earned global recognition from films like Anyone but You (2023), Hit Man (2023), Twisters (2024), and more. As of now, there are no details on the film's story or the rest of the cast.

Barry Jenkins recently returned to film direction for Mufasa: The Lion King after directing If Beale Street Could Talk in 2018. While the latter didn't earn well, the former exploded on the box office, grossing over $700 million globally against its $200 million budget.

Glen Powell's role in The Natural Order is unconfirmed

Like the rest of The Natural Order cast, there are no details on who Glen Powell is playing in the film. However, the film is likely to be a visual treat for fans given Powell and Jenkins' involvement. Both of them were crushing it in 2024.

We have already mentioned that Jenkins' Mufasa: The Lion King was among the top commercial successes. About Powell, he went on to win the Hollywood Critics Association Midseason Award for Best Actor and earned a Golden Globes nomination for Hit Man.

Though Glen Powell has been active since he told The Hollywood Reporter that his 2018 film Set It Up, where he acted opposite Zoey Deutch, was sort of a breakthrough for him. THR mentions that,

"People who didn’t used to return Powell’s calls were suddenly saying things like, “Hey, man, we got to get together.”"

For now, other than The Natural Order, the actor is busy in a few other projects too. There's this dystopian film dubbed The Running Man by Edgar Wright where he is a father trying to save his daughter.

Another one is a black comedy by John Patton Ford called Huntington, where he will act opposite Margaret Qualley. There's no release date for the film and like Jack Quaid's recent hit Novocaine, it was filmed in Cape Town.

He will be a part of an upcoming comedy series called Chad Powers, which he co-created alongside Rick and Morty's Michael Waldron. Powell is playing titular Chad Powers, a disguise he uses for his original identity, Russ Holiday.

The Natural Order does not have a release date yet, but we will update you as soon as we have the news.
