Don Lemon, the contentious CNN host who was fired, took to X to cite his grievances over President-elect Donald Trump's new choice of Defense Secretary: Pete Hegseth. In a 2-minute video, he can be seen chuckling over the new nomination as he says:

"[I thought I] must have been hacked. And then I saw this- an official statement from Donald Trump saying "I am honored to announce that I have nominated Pete Hegseth to serve in my cabinet as the Secretary of Defense. What?"

Pete Hegseth says women shouldn't be allowed in combat, says they won't do as well as white men

Don Lemon continued his diss while giggling as his superimposed face hovered over the statement:

"At first, some of these nominations were a little extreme, but there were some normal people, some regular old Republicans like Marco Rubio or Marc Walz. But Pete Hegseth? The morning weekend host on Fox News? cmon."

Pete Hegseth is a Fox News host, author, and military veteran. He's had stints in Afghanistan and Iraq and will now take charge of the nation's military. Trump announced the news on Tuesday, November 12, when he said in a statement:

"Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First. With Pete at the helm, America's enemies are on notice - Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down."

Pete Hegseth is a staunch critic of the "woke" programs sweeping nationwide. According to the Associated Press, he is also one to doubt the role of women in combat and advocated pardoning service members hit with charges related to war crimes.

In June, during a rally in Las Vegas, Trump called on all his supporters to buy Hegseth’s book, The War on Warriors, pledging that should he come out on top in the election,

"The woke stuff will be gone within a period of 24 hours. I can tell you.”

According to the First Post, the book critiques the Pentagon's handling of social issues. The outlet also reported that he was a subordinate during his time in combat and never held any leadership role.

Regardless, according to the Associated Press, in reflecting on his anti-women in combat stances, he said on The Shawn Ryan Show podcast:

“Everything about men and women serving together makes the situation more complicated, and complication in combat, that means casualties are worse."

While he acknowledged that diversity within the military is beneficial, he noted that women couldn't perform as well as the minority and white men. He continued, noting that by allowing women in, “we’ve changed the standards in putting them there, which means you’ve changed the capability of that unit."

According to the BBC, should Hegseth's role be confirmed, he will be in charge of making decisions about several pressing issues, including military assistance for Israel in Gaza and support for Ukraine amid the Ukraine-Russia conflicts.

As for Don Lemon, this is the second time Don Lemon has come under fire in the last 3 months. Just this September, he was scrutinized after he mocked a video of Melania Trump. In it, she could be seen probing for answers on the assassination attempt on her husband, President Trump's life.

In the video, Melania can be heard saying:

"The attempt to end my husband's life was a horrible, distressing experience. Now, the silence around it feels heavy. I can't help but wonder, why didn't law enforcement officials arrest the shooter before the speech?”

However, many quickly critiqued the former CNN host's views, prompting him to take the video down.
