Fans of the MeidasTouch podcast will rejoice at the news of the podcast being crowned the No. 1 podcast in the U.S. The Podscribe rankings, which classify the audience reach of various podcasts according to certain metrics, revealed that the MeidasTouch had topped its February 2025 ranking by the metric of downloads and views per month, which, as Podscribe notes, is across all podcast and YouTube metrics.

As of the writing of this article, the MeidasTouch podcast has 58.1 million downloads and plays. This effectively dethroned The Joe Rogan Experience, which previously occupied the top position. The Joe Rogan Experience currently stands at 48 million downloads and plays, going down 32 percent.

MeidasTouch announced the news on X, formerly Twitter, on February 18.

Who created the MeidasTouch podcast?

Created by the Meiselas brothers (Ben, Brett, and Jordy), the MeidasTouch podcast releases episodes each Monday and Thursday. The MeidasTouch, according to the podcast's description, is a discussion-based news podcast that provides doses of comedy and “brotherly love.”

The podcast was founded in 2020 while the world was under quarantine, according to Adweek. The same report explains how the brothers came up with the name ‘MeidasTouch’ by combining their father’s name, Meiselas, with their mother’s surname, Golden. The title also alludes to ‘the Midas touch,’ a phrase describing a touch that turns everything it comes into contact with to gold. That sure seems to be coming true as the podcast finally sits at the top of rankings in the U.S.

According to their description on Apple Podcasts, the brothers behind the MeidasTouch podcast have illustrious careers. Ben is a notable lawyer. Brett is a producer and editor for the popular talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Brett has won not one but two Emmy Awards, one in 2015 and the other in 2016, for his work on the show. Finally, the third brother, Jordi, was an ad executive who worked in New York.

More about The Joe Rogan Experience

The MeidasTouch podcast unseated The Joe Rogan Experience, which is podcasted hosted by comedian Joe Rogan. Alongside running the podcast, Rogan is also a UFC color commentator.

According to Rogan’s website, the podcast is “a long-form conversation” that invites guests from various walks of life, such as actors, music artists, directors, writers, famous personalities, and MMA fighters. The podcast traces its origins to the release of its first episode in December 2009.

Rogan recently spoke about his experience of the Los Angeles wildfires on The Joe Rogan Experience, recalling how he saw a man trying to escape, die. Rogan said,

“I watched the guy die, watched guy run across the highway and get hit by a car…I didn't see him get hit by a car but I saw him…People were panicking, there was ash falling from the sky like it was snowing, it was crazy.”

The Joe Rogan Experience podcast has gained enormous success over its run of more than 2000 episodes, and 2024 was the year when it was named Spotify’s No.1 podcast, retaining its title for 4 consecutive years.

The podcast had an exclusive deal with Spotify, which was widened early in 2024 when the streaming platform signed a $250 million deal with Rogan to enable the podcast to be distributed more freely.

There is no doubt that the MeidasTouch podcast has dethroned a giant podcaster. It would be interesting to observe if the MeidasTouch is able to maintain its hold on the No.1 position going forward in 2025.
