The Fantastic Four: First Steps to undergo reshoot? But will that change the release date?

Marvel's sixth phase is bringing back four of the studio's most fantastic heroes, and the excitement surrounding the Fantastic Four is brimming with theories and intense anticipation. Starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon-Moss Bachrach as the titular heroes, Fantastic Four: First Steps brings back the iconic quartet in a project that will continue Marvel's new phase.

As the film gets all set to reach theaters in July, it has been reported that it's still going through reshoots with less than three months to go for its release. The issues behind the reshoots have not been revealed yet, but it will certainly add more edge and expansion.

Marvel has consistently had reshoots for most of their popular projects, owing to last-minute changes in scenes, production, and plot based on studio feedback, test audience reactions, shifting release schedules, and evolving connections within the wider MCU timeline. Of late, Captain America: Brave New World was one of the films to undergo reshoots after much feedback from the audience. Although Fantastic Four: First Steps has received relatively positive feedback, the reshoots could add more details and clarity to the film that will most probably initiate events of the further phases in Marvel.

With the news of the reshoots, many have also wondered if it changed the film's release date in any way. As of now, Marvel has not yet announced any such updates regarding Fantastic Four: First Steps, so fans can rest assured that the film will reach fans by July.

Fantastic Four: First Steps is set in a retro-futuristic world and will delve into the stories of the Fantastic Four: namely, Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards), the Human Torch (Johnny Storm), the Invisible Woman (Susan Storm), and the Thing (Ben Grimm).

Based on their scientific endeavors and heroic adventures, the film allows fans to take a look at Marvel's first family as they juggle their superheroic lives with their close familial bond. The set of four are also all set to star in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, so many fans are expecting Fantastic Four: First Steps to introduce Easter Eggs for Marvel's upcoming phases.

However, this project solely belongs to the four titular heroes and will have no interconnection with any other superheroes of Marvel

This has been confirmed by director Matt Shakman as he told Empire,

“We are our own universe, which is wonderful and liberating. There's really no [other] superheroes. There's no Easter eggs. There's no running into Iron Man or whatever. They're it, in this universe. I love the interconnected Marvel Universe, but we get to do something so new and so different. Eventually, this world will meet up with other worlds — but for now this is our own little corner.”
