“The fact that he said he can’t sing, I think, disproves that we’re related” — Billy Corgan and Bill Burr address if they’re half-brothers

On the podcast, the two discussed the possibility of sharing blood and being half-brothers, allegedly from their father's side. Corgan, during an episode on the same podcast in November 2024, mentioned that about 10 years ago, his stepmother told him that she believes Burr "might be one of the children that your father sired in his days being a traveling musician."

Corgan, while responding to the theory, said,

"My father did once tell me that I had a half-brother named Bill, who was born around the same time as me."

Corgan went on to say that he wasn't joking. However, he finds it difficult to believe. After Mandel brought Corgan into the podcast, Bill and Billy went on to roast each other and jokingly accused Mandel of setting up the encounter for "ratings" and calling it "rude," saying that a podcast wasn't an appropriate location for them to meet up. Burr joked,

"What was supposed to happen? Are we going to play catch? We're both in our 50s. At some point, we will hang out. I don't think on a podcast."

After Mandel left, leaving the two to bond, Burr asked Corgan about his "relationship with dad," which the star described as "difficult." After the two joked about sharing a father, Corgan suggested,

"The fact that he said he can't sing, I think that sort of disproves that we're related."

Who is Billy Corgan's father?

Billy Corgan's father, who is rumored to have also fathered Bill Burr is William Corgan Sr. William Corgan was a Blues guitarist who died of a "massive heart attack on December 17, 2021, after suffering from health issues. Billy, in a tribute, mentioned that his father was a musician himself and he had a "bitter relationship" with the music business. The musician recalled memories of his father playing soundchecks and "empty, stinking bars."

"My earliest memories are of my father playing music, listening to music in the house, and so all I've known is music and that started with my father. He truly loved music and inspired me to not only be a musician of accomplishment but also to love all types of music. He truly loved gospel and R&B and soul."

In November 2024, Billy Corgan revealed that his stepmother theorized that Bill Curr might be his stepbrother.
