Paramount has just dropped the first look at its upcoming documentary The Carters: Hurts To Love You that centers on the lives of Nick Carter (from Backstreet Boys), his brother Aaron Carter (late American singer), and other members of their family. The much-anticipated two-part documentary will explore the professional careers of Nick and Aaron Carter and how they balanced their personal struggles simultaneously.
With Soleil Moon Frye at the helm of the project, Nick, along with her sister Angel Conrad Carter, will reportedly take us through the lives of the Carter family members. The documentary will also feature conversations describing how tragedy and complicated relationships led to an unfortunate situation for "the only surviving" members, per Variety.
The Carters: Hurts To Love You trailer is out and here's what we know
A logline of The Carters: Hurts To Love You, per People, reads:
"Follows bona fide American teen heartthrobs Nick and Aaron, who seemed to have it all, but behind their remarkable gifts was a family dealing with mental health struggles, drug addiction and heartbreaking neglect."
According to Variety, helmer Fyre was able to get access to different archives of the Carter family. The creative team has reportedly clubbed audio recordings of the family members, videos and audio clips, pictures, as well as some text messages (relevant ones) to give the documentary its much-deserved authenticity.
The Carter family was first struck by tragedy back in 2012 when Leslie Carter apparently succumbed to substance overdose. Following the unfortunate incident, a decade later in 2022, Aaron Carter passed away in a case of accidental drowning, and the very next year, another tragic incident took away the life of Bobbie Jean (leaving behind only Nick and Angel Carter).
As multiple sources have already stated, The Carters: Hurts To Love is set for a Paramount Plus premiere on April 15, 2025, and the latest news has already garnered quite some social media attention. Per Variety, See It Now Studios in association with Candle True Stories has produced the documentary, and Paramount Global Content Distribution currently holds distribution rights.
The Carters: Hurts to Love You will also reportedly feature interviews with notable industry figures (as well as associates of the Carters), namely Lori Knight, Melissa Joan Hart, and Scout Willis. The recently launched trailer has taken us through the childhood versions of Nick and Aaron Carter as they eventually grow up to be successful musicians of the contemporary world.
