Recently, Jennie Garth expressed her views on Doherty getting overlooked in the distinguished segment. According to a recent X video shared by TMZ, the actor reacted to her Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star's omission in the broadcast. She said:

"Yeah, that’s messed up."

Additionally, she responded to the reporter's question about whether the Oscars should issue an apology. She said:

"Maybe."

Taking to Instagram, Jennie Garth penned a heartfelt note for her former dear co-star. Processing her feelings after hearing the unfortunate news, she wrote:

"I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my long time friend Shannen, the woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known."

She further continued:

"Our connection was real and honest. We were so often pitted against each other but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship which was one built on mutual respect and admiration."

Lauding Shannen for her qualities, Jennie also shared,

"She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie and all the people who loved her. 💔"

Per People Magazine, the What I Like About You star shared how she felt after getting the news of Doherty's death in 2024. She thought,

"Like someone punched me in the stomach."
