9 1/2 Weeks star Kim Basinger, in a Variety interview published on February 27, questioned the need for intimacy coordinators. Basinger gained popularity for her role in 9 1/2 Weeks in 1986, a steamy movie featuring the life of a woman who pursues a BDSM-affair. The actress has since starred in 2017's Fifty Shades Darker, where she played the role of a seductress.

While questioning the need for intimacy coordinators, Kim said,

"I can't imagine having somebody come up to me and say, 'Do you mind if they put their hand here. That's just another person in the room. Either we work it out or we don't. I don't see all of this need for supervised visits."

Basinger's opinion on intimacy coordinators comes two months after Oscar nominee Mikey Madison, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, noted that they did not have an intimacy coordinator on set while filming Anora.

"For our film, it was a choice that I made; the filmmakers offered me, if I wanted, an intimacy coordinator. Mark Eydelshteyn, who plays Ivan, and I decided it would be best to just keep it small."

Bassinger is the newest actress to question the need for intimacy coordinators. In the past, other celebs including Jennifer Anniston, Sean Bean, Penn Badgley, Michael Douglas, Kate Winslet, and others have echoed her thoughts.

Kim Basinger opens up about her divorce from Alec Baldwin

Elsewhere in the recent interview with Vairety, Kim Basinger also opened up about her tumultuous divorce from Alec Baldwin. Baldwin and Basinger were married from 1993 to 2002 after meeting on the sets of the The Marrying Man in 1990. The couple shares a daughter, Ireland, 29. While speaking about her relationship with Alec now, Kim said,

"Alec and I have a great relationship. I have great resepct for where he is today, and his family. You know, we don't spend Christmases and holidays or see each other very much. But we talk."

The actress went on to add,

"He'll pick up the phone and call me, and we have a very genuinely cordial and I think loving relationship in a lot of ways, just because we share a daughter, and I don't wish him anything but everything good."

After her split from Alec Baldwin, Kim Basinger went on to date her longtime hairdresser Mitch Stone, while Alec went on to marry American yoga instructor and entrepreneur Hilaria Baldwin.
