Captain America: Brave New World is about to be released in theaters. So, a select press members got a chance to watch this film beforehand. They have shared their reactions online about the film and its star, Anthony Mackie. This is the first time Mackie will lead an MCU film after starting his Marvel journey nearly 10 years ago with Captain America: The Winter Soldier alongside Chris Evans.
As the press reactions pour in upon its early screenings, Anthony Mackie speaks about the positive response.
"I’ve always been ‘a part of the movie’ but this is the first time people will go to the movie theatres to see my movie, and that’s humbling."
Previously, Mackie played The Falcon until Steve Rogers handed him the Cap's shield. So, while there is "no Falcon movie," the new Captain America movie offers him a chance to lead the ship. He is now the center of attention in the movie, where he battles Harrison Ford's Red Hulk.
Captain America: Brave New World: Anthony Mackie finds his lead role humbling
The audience will finally be able to see Anthony Mackie as Captain America on a big screen. This is the first time Mackie is leading a Marvel movie. He finds it humbling not to be just "a part of the movie" and looks forward to the Marvel fans coming to theaters to see him on screen.
The movie has not yet received a concrete critical consensus, likely because the critic reviews might be embargoed till the release date. However, select press members shared their reactions after watching the film. Although a mixed response, it shows near-unanimous praise for Mackie and his chemistry with Danny Ramirez.
In his X post, Chris Gallardo said,

Variety's Jazz Tangcay says
"Anthony Mackie kicks a** as Captain America."
