The Academy Award-nominated actress, Scarlett Johansson, in a recent interview with InStyle, spoke about protecting her kids' privacy at all costs and talked about fame and being a public figure. The 40-year-old actress has been in the movie business for almost thirty years and knows the price one has to pay for being a celebrity. However, she is quite determined and firm about setting up some boundaries for her kids.
The Lost in Translation star, Johansson, is the mother of two, a daughter, Rose, who is 10, and a son, Cosmo, who is just 3. She shares her daughter with her second husband, French journalist Romain Dauriac, and her son with her present husband, Colin Jost, whom she married in 2020. Johansson was previously married to the Deadpool star, Ryan Reynolds, from 2008 to 2011. She was just 23 at the time.
Before touching upon the topic of her children's privacy, Scarlett began by saying that she is not a closed book and that she is one of those persons who over-share. She talked about being politically active and how vocal she is about different matters. Johansson mentioned that she is a private person and that she gives importance to and values her close friendships. She also explained how precious her family is to her and mentioned that their privacy is equally important to her.
Johansson, who was featured several times on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list and was declared the highest-paid actress in the world in 2018 and 2019, said the most important thing to her as of now is her kids' anonymity. It is precious to her. The actress stated that the idea of a celebrity might seem nice and glamorous, but it comes with a big weight that one has to carry.
Johansson went ahead and said:
"The thing about being a public figure is that the idea of being recognizable and celebrated feels fun, but then you can never stuff it back in the bottle,"
Then, she further added and explained:
"The reality of it is, there’s a massive loss to that, you know? So I think preserving that for as long as possible until it’s someone's choice, that’s the choice I make as far as my kids go."
