Taylor Swift is back in the news cycle. As she gears up to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s bid for another Super Bowl win, she once again finds herself amid controversy.
The newest situation linked to the Cruel Summer star involves longtime friend Blake Lively and her ongoing legal situation with Justin Baldoni, her It Ends with Us co-star.
For her part, it is alleged by sources through TMZ that Taylor would like to stay as far away from this situation as possible (regardless of her friendship with Blake) given her platform. As a result, according to TMZ, sources close to Swift say she cannot help but feel “used”.
Their apparent fallout may have deeper roots but was set off earlier in the week when the following message sent by Lively surfaced online, the screenshot of which was shared with the US District Court.
Taylor Fed Up?
First, to give a little context, Lively sued Baldoni in December according to BBC, accusing him of “inappropriate and unwelcome behavior” and claiming he was trying to “destroy” her reputation.
Baldoni has denied all accusations and countersued on January 16, including Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds, and publicist Leslie Sloane in the suit.
As alleged communications from both sides began to leak online, Lively’s aforementioned text message stood out according to a report by The Daily Mail.
“If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons.”
Sources have claimed the Bad Blood singer was unhappy with the apparent moniker and feels uncomfortable with her name being used in such a publicly legal context.
Taylor and Blake - A Brief Timeline
To those who aren’t in the know, Taylor Swift and Blake Lively have been friends for ages. Their friendship first went public in 2015 when Blake made a playful reference to Swift’s Bad Blood music video in a L’Oréal ad campaign.
Taylor is also the godmother to one of Blake’s children according to TMZ. However, fans have noticed that Swift has been totally silent regarding the controversy surrounding Lively’s latest film, It Ends With Us.
