Carry-On becomes the third most-watched movie on Netflix in 2024

Carry-On stars Taron Egerton as TSA agent Ethan Kopek, who is coerced by Jason Bateman, a mysterious passenger on a flight who is about to smuggle a dangerous package on Christmas Eve. Amid the Holiday chaos, Ethan must aid his mysterious passenger's demands while secretly strategizing against him.

Fans loved this high-stakes chase action thriller movie among the many Holiday-themed films on Netflix. With 97 million views achieved in the first few days of its release, Carry-On had already entered the Top 5 charts of the most popular films of 2024.

But it seems like the movie has broken its own record, as the updated Netflix charts suggest that the movie has secured the third position on the list of the most watched films on Netflix after Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds' Red Notice and Adam McKay's Don't Look Up.

The movie has accumulated a combined viewership of 160.1 million views since it debuted in the first week of December.

The success of movies like Carry-On suggests that audiences are interested in watching a high-stakes action thriller, mimicking the likes of Die Hard during the Holidays. Whether the success is owed to the holidays or the actual brilliance of the movie is up for debate, the results suggest that the movie might become a holiday classic, and people might watch it every year like a tradition, making it a classic action hit.
