Alarum, an action-thriller film that stars Sylvester Stallone, has debuted with a surprisingly poor reaction on the Rotten Tomatoes website. The film is directed by Michael Polish and has a script written by Alexander Vesha.

Alarum depicts the story of a married couple who were former spies. They now find themselves under a great deal of pressure while they hide in an isolated cabin they own. The couple steals a hard drive which causes a menace and becomes the central point of the film due to various agencies wanting back the stolen hard drive.

Alarum includes Scott Eastwood, Mike Colter, Ísis Valverde, Willa Fitzgerald, and D.W Moffet alongside Sylvester Stallone. The film had a selective theatrical release along with a video-on-demand release on January 17.

Amidst its release, the Alarum has caused sparks and conversations among critics.

Critics respond to Alarum on Rotten Tomatoes score

Alarum at present possesses a score of 0% on the Rotten Tomatoes website based on 14 reviews by critics. The rating then proceeds to show a score of 3.6/10 which signals downbeat feedback from the critics. Alarum merges with a tiny list of movies that have gained this unusual and harsh merit.

This isn’t Sylvester’s first rodeo with a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes. His film in 2024 titled Armor also received the same treatment as his 2025 release Alarum.

Traditionally, Sylvester Stallone has had a mixed bag of reviews with Creed II being one of his most iconic performances back in 2018.

Looking forward to audience reception:

The audience reception still remains to come forward as Rotten Tomatoes has still yet to bring forth and allow the general audiences to garner their user scores for Alarum. Audience reception is expected to drop soon as the film is available in theatres and streaming platforms alike.

The Popcornmeter which should be out any time now, will be the deciding factor if the audiences have a personal different view of their own or they too side with the critics.

Moving forward, the audience response on Popcornmeter will also decide if the film has paved the way or has not paved the way for a possible sequel to Alarum that was subtly teased at the end of the movie.

As the film industry and Hollywood don’t stop, Stallone is all set to jump into his next film titled The Epiphany which has been directed by Will Eubank. Eubank’s film before The Epiphany titled Land of Bad earned a score of 67% which could in turn indicate a much better performance by The Epiphany being Stallone’s next project.

Alarum has faced a start that is a bit patchy and rough when it comes to critical response. However, the tables could possibly turn at any point in time with audience scores coming in soon which should be a deciding factor for a sequel to go ahead or not.
