Sydney Sweeney to lead the cast of Split Fiction movie adaptation by helmer Jon M. Chu

As per reports at Variety, it has been revealed that Sydney Sweeney has been roped in to play the lead in the movie adaptation of the highly celebrated game, Split Fiction.
It is not confirmed which role Sweeney is going to essay, between the lead characters of the game Zoe or Mio. Along with acting, Sydney Sweeney shall also serve as an executive producer in the film as well.
The upcoming movie shall be penned by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. The writers duo has previously jointly written scripts of iconic films including Marvel's Deadpool film franchise (2016, 2018, 2024), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), Zombieland (2009), etc.
The film's production company, Dmitri M. Johnson and Mike Goldberg's 'Story Kitchen', is known for successfully translating video games into movies and series. Some of the movies and series include Sonic the Hedgehog film series (2020, 2022, 2024), Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft (2024-present), etc.
The company is also in the process of making a movie adaptation of Hazelight Studios' another popular video game, It Takes Two.
After the incredible success of Wicked, helmer Jon M.Chu is all set to make the film adaptation of Split Fiction. The video game, like Wicked, too focuses on a story of two women Mio and Zoe. Released in 2025, the game follows the plot of two writers Mio Hudson and Zoe Foster, who find themselves to be incarcerated as they are transported to the world of the imagined stories they have themselves written.
The game has been created by Hazelight Studios' Josef Fares, and has been brought out by Electronic Arts. The game is to be played with more than one player, as the format is in split screen. Either of the players take on the role of Zoe or Mio and navigate to find a way out of the worlds they are stuck in.
The game has been incredibly successful. It has been revealed by the studio that since its debut on March 6, 2025, more than a number of 2 million units of the game has been purchased within a span of a week.
