James Gunn's highly anticipated Superman movie is just around the corner as David Corenswet wears the iconic red cape for the first time, marking a new beginning for DC Studios. The film, which will kick off James Gunn's reign at DC is set to explore Clark Kent aka Superman's dual identity and how he navigates his life with it. The character will explore his Kryptonian heritage, while embodying everything that the iconic hero stands for..

The film has been a major discussion among fans of the genre and it does look rather promising with an impressive cast and the creative genius of Gunn. Rachel Brosnahan stars as Lois Lane while Anthony Carrign is stepping in as Metamorpho.

Carrigan recently opened up about his role in the film, calling the project 'uplifting' as he told ComicBookMovie.com,

"I mean, honestly, the only thing I can say is just what a joy it was to work on a project like that. I'm so excited to obviously bring something like McVeigh to audiences, but also something that inspires such hope and is really about something very uplifting."

As for Brosnahan, she did some intense research on journalists to reprise her role as perfectly as she could as she talked about the role of Lois Lane and what it meant to be a part of Gunn's highly awaited project. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in February, the actress said,

“You know, James and Peter Saffron on the DC side, James has been dreaming of making a Superman movie for so many years. And to be a part of somebody else realizing their dream like that, it just brings a totally different energy to the set every day. And David is such a Superman nerd, and it was just a blast. So to feel that kind of energy reflected back at us has just been so encouraging.”

James Gunn's first project in DC has been awaited for years ever since his creative contribution to the studio was released. It will be the first project to come under DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters under Gunn's creative force. As for the inspiration behind the film, according to James Gunn, DC Comics' All-Star Superman run from 2005 to 2008 served as an inspiration for his version of Superman.

The plotline of this story revolves around Superman nearly dying from excessive sun exposure and performing a number of valiant deeds, referred to as the Twelve Labors of Superman, in an effort to find peace before his death. It would certainly be an interesting watch to see how Gunn brings the hero to life, considering his previous highly appreciated work with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

Superman is set to release on July 11, 2025
