According to multiple reports, DC Studios' co-CEO, James Gunn, has dropped the first behind-the-scenes look of Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El for the much-anticipated superhero film Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow. The House Of The Dragon star will play Supergirl for DC's upcoming film which is set to hit U.S. theatres on June 26, 2026.

Supergirl previously appeared in several movies and TV series namely the 2023 superhero film The Flash, the 1984 classic Supergirl, and The CW's superhero drama series Supergirl. The upcoming movie (directed by Craig Gillespie) has been adapted from Tom King's comic miniseries going by the same name.

The first look reveals a back shot of Alcock's Supergirl (wearing a hoodie) on a chair that carries the iconic logo and the surroundings are studded with lights of variegated colors, more like a club or a bar. The official synopsis of Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow reads:

"It follows Kara Zor-El's story and her darker origin before she finally made her way to Earth."

The first behind-the-scenes moment of Milly Alcock's Supergirl revealed

Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow is now in production and DC Studios chief James Gunn has recently dropped a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Milly Alcock's much-anticipated role. Gunn recently shared a post on his Instagram handle, saying:

"Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El. Craig brings an incredible sensibility to this story, and Milly is every inch the unique #Supergirl envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Nogueira."

Ever since, the comments section has flooded with replies and fans are expressing their love and enthusiasm owing to the return of Supergirl. Moreover, Milly Alcock has also uploaded the same photo on her socials, with the tag "Introducing Kara".


More about Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow

DC Studios is producing Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow alongside helmer Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Anna Nogueira. Warner Bros. is currently holding distribution rights in the United States while premiere is still more than a year away.

In the upcoming DC superhero film, Alcock will be leading a star-studded cast that comprises:

  • Jason Momoa (Lobo)
  • Eve Ridley (Ruthye Marye Knoll, a young lady who comes across Supergirl aka Kara while on her adventures)
  • Matthias Schoenaerts (Krem of the Yellow Hills, the man who murdered Ruthye's father)
  • Emily Beecham (Supergirl's mother)
  • David Krumholtz (Supergirl's father aka Zor-El)
  • Krypto, the superpowered dog.

Production is currently underway in Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in England. James Gunn earlier described the new Supergirl in a statement, saying:

"She is not exactly the Supergirl we're used to seeing."
