DJ Akademiks has become the latest target of online mockery, following a controversial tweet he uploaded of NBA legend Steph Curry's wife, Ayesha, "chilling" with OVO Mark, a longtime acquaintance of Drake's. He included a lyric from Lamar's diss track, Meet the Grahams, in which he advised Steph to "keep the family away" from the ongoing feud between him and Drake.
DJ Akademiks captioned the tweet:
"Just put the fries in the bag Kbot."
He posted the same image on Instagram, with the caption:
"Ovo mark with Ayesha curry “Steph keep the family away” aging like milk."
However, the internet was not happy with DJ Akademiks trying to stir up yet another beef, pointing out that the two were cousins. Others pointed out that the feud has been going on too long, contending that Kendrick Lamar has already come out on top. One user chimed in:
"There’s no way y’all Drake fans still losing sleep over this in October."
Many hopped on the bandwagon:
"You’re the only one still talking about this bro let it die," one user stated.
"Bro drake lost the battle get over it. We goin be in 2030 and bro still gonna be posting about it," another opined.
"There’s something that comes out every few weeks or so that just makes Kendrick’s lyrics age worse every time," another contended.
"AK saying put the fries in the bag like drake ain’t been giving him extra pickle for the last 6 months," another joked.
The comments section was flooded with ridicule, cutthroat sarcasm, and a flurry of memes.
"Godamnn…u only one still talking about this," another pointed out.
"nigga it’s been months PLEASE let it go," yet another echoed.
"Does Drake pay guys for defending him on twitter, coz if so ill start as well. Guys are working overtime lol," someone began speculating.
In May, Kendrick Lamar dropped his track, Meet The Grahams, and the lyrics went like:
"Ayy, LeBron, keep the family away, hey, Curry, will you keep the family away? / To anybody that embodies the love for the kids, keep the family away. I’m looking to shoot through pervert that lives keep the family safe. They lookin’ at you too if you standin’ by him, keep the family away.”
Steph Curry says he's a "big Drake guy"
During a match in Abu Dhabi in July, Kendrick's notorious dissident track, Not Like Us, began blaring from the speakers. A disgruntled Steph Curry, however, could be heard saying:
“Damn with this song. It’s not the only song in America."
However, Lebron James revealed he "loves" it. Regardless, he doubled down on his stance in August 2024 in an interview with GQ Sports, asserting that he's an ardent Drake supporter.
"I’m a big Drake guy. I’ve been for a long time. I think obviously you know what it is for the rap industry to have that, but I still rock with Drake. Absolutely. Absolutely."
While Drake unfollowed Lebron James on Instagram, among other celebrities like Lamar, he maintains his connection with the Curry clan.
