Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith gets a new poster for 20th Anniversary release

The Star Wars franchise has been a groundbreaking project in terms of cinematic success in the industry, and as the third film in the prequel trilogy, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith completes its second decade, the film is returning to theaters so fans can experience its brilliance on the big screen once again.

The official statement about the screening, as The Hollywood Reporter reported, reads,

“The film will run in U.S. theaters and select international territories for one week only and will be available in several formats, including, for the first time, 4DX. 4DX features high-tech motion chairs that sync with over 21 effects, all designed to complement the narrative of the film.”

Ahead of its release, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith has also gotten a brand-new poster designed by Matt Ferguson that was shared across social media.

Describing it as his most complicated work to date, the poster features Darth Vader's mask and Anakin Skywalker as the former sets out to execute Order 66. It also includes a scene from the lightsaber duel between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin as the Coruscant skyline is ablaze with warships.

Speaking about the poster, Ferguson told StarWars,

“The space battle and Mustafar elements are all really complicated, with way more ships and explosions than on my other Star Wars posters. It's the movie where it all really unravels for Anakin.”

What is Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith about?

The third movie in the Star Wars prequel series, Revenge of the Sith, is set after the start of the Clone Wars. Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor and Yoda played by Frank Oz are compelled to flee into hiding, while Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker is drawn to the dark side of the Force to become Darth Vader.

Revenge of the Sith debuted on May 19, 2005, to $158.4 million in the United States and Canada. At the box office, the threequel earned $380.2 million in the US and $849.99 million globally, making it one of the most commercially successful films in the franchise. It would certainly be another successful re-release as fans buckle up to return to the Galaxy's Edge.
