Disney's live-action adaptation of Snow White has found itself in newer tensions. Sources reveal that both the lead actresses- Gal Gadot and Rachel Zegler, have been undergoing a tense situation as they both stand in different political stances and continue to have less in common to extend their professional relationship to something friendly.

Gadot, who plays the role of the Evil Queen in the movie, has been very clear about her political stance as she continues to advocate for Israelis in the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. Meanwhile, Zegler, who plays Snow White, has constantly supported Palestine through her social media posts. Although this difference has not exactly led to them being on bad terms, it has still become a source of tension between the two.

According to PEOPLE, the source added that their age gap contributes to this tension. Clarifying that it isn't precisely a ‘stay away from me' situation, the source continues that the actresses will continue promoting the movie together.

A third source has quipped that Zegler and Gadot are not friends and that the latter is annoyed by the controversies in which the movie has found itself. The source said,

“Gal is annoyed by the movie drama. She enjoyed filming. She was fine with Rachel but they are not friends. They have nothing in common... They did a job together and that’s it.”

A source also added that Gadot was unhappy about Zegler criticizing the film, which led to intense backlash against it. The source added,

“Gal’s attitude is that you don’t criticize and cause drama for a project you signed on to do. She just doesn’t get it.”

The tension between the actresses is likely to exacerbate issues for the film, which is already under significant strain as it continues to face backlash from fans. Since the studio opted for a scaled-down premiere, it awaits reviews and reactions to the film set to release on March 21st.

Why is Snow White facing backlash?

The controversies surrounding the film stem from Disney casting Rachel Zegler, who is half-Latin, as Snow White. Fans protested that her ethnicity does not align with the princess's physical features. Things escalated when Zegler criticized the original film and its premise, adding that the live-action adaptation will not focus on the princess's love story but instead on her being a fearless leader.

Although Zegler has clarified her statements to have been taken out of proportion, the controversies have been consistent, with the trailer receiving backlash on social media.

Snow White is set to hit theatres on 21 March.
