Sorry, Baby: A24 acquires distribution rights for Eva Victor's latest drama film

A24 has acquired distribution rights for Eva Victor's latest drama film Sorry, Baby. Written and directed by Eva Victor, who also stars in the lead role in the film Sorry, Baby recently premiered on 27th January 2025 at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Sorry, Baby has opened with incredible reviews, receiving a massive aggregate of 100% at Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.1/10 rating at the IMDb.

Sorry, Baby follows the story of college professor Agnes, who has experienced s*xual assault and is taking steps to recuperate from the trauma. According to the official website of Sundance, the structure of its storytelling is in a non-linear manner, spanning within the timeline of five years of Agnes's healing journey.

Something bad happened to Agnes. But life goes on - for everyone around her, at least.

According to the reports at Deadline, Independant Entertainment company A24 has finally bought the distribution rights of Sorry, Baby, reportedly agreeing to $8 million, with the help of UTA Independant Film Group to organize the funding and carry out the deal. Other companies such as Neon, Searchlight, and MUBI were also in the line to buy the distribution rights of Sorry, Baby before it ultimately went to A24.

According to Variety, along with Sorry, Baby, two other films premiering at Sundance have been sold so far, which includes Alison Brie and Dave Franco starrer Together, which is acquired by Neon, and Train Dreams has been sold to Netflix, starring Joel Edgerton and Felicity Jones.

A24 is well known for distributing as well as producing successful films and TV shows, including The Witch (2015), Euphoria (2019-present), and the Academy Award and Oscar-winning film Everything Everything All At Once (2022), to name a few.

Along with comedian and actor Eva Victor, who is previously seen in TV shows and films, namely Billions (2016), Dating and New York (2021), and Boys Go To Jupiter (2024), starring as Agnes in Sorry, Baby. Along with her, we have Naomi Ackie as Lydie, who has previously worked in Lady Macbeth (2016), The End of the F***ing World (2019), Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), and Lucas Hedges, who has previously worked in Moonrise Kingdom (2012), Lady Bird (2017), is joining the cast essaying the role of Gavin.
