The It Ends With Us actor Brandon Sklenar is starring in The Housemaid, which is currently in production.

The 1923 star recently spoke about his upcoming project to The Hollywood Reporter. Brandon Sklenar made some revelations about the shared theme of It Ends With Us and The Housemaid.

The 34-year-old actor told The Hollywood Reporter that the theme of domestic violence has been around him and his life “for a long time.” He revealed that a close one has been dealing with it for many years,

“It’s [domestic abuse] a theme that’s been around me and in my life for a long time. Someone very close to me has been dealing with it for many years, and I’ve been helping her navigate that space as much as I can. So, perhaps, by the grace of God, it keeps finding its way into my sphere as a theme, because it’s a theme in my own life.”

The Housemaid is based on Freida McFadden’s first book from the eponymous series. The Paul Feig-directorial psychological thriller is scheduled for a Christmas Day release later this year. Besides Brandon Sklenar, the book adaptation features a star cast that includes Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and Michele Morrone.

Brandon Sklenar’s recent film Drop also touches upon the theme of domestic abuse

The core themes of It Ends With Us’ story were domestic and emotional abuse. Brandon Sklenar, who portrayed Atlas Corrigan in the Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively starrer, also discussed the theme being explored in Drop. He admitted that the new film doesn’t deal with the domestic violence theme as deeply as It Ends With Us and mentioned that the inclusion is “coincidental,”

“It’s something that we touch upon in Drop, given Violet’s [Fahy] history, but it’s not necessarily in the forefront as much as it is with It Ends with Us. That film is directly about [domestic violence], and the entire plot revolves around it. So it was just purely coincidental that it’s a theme in this film.”

Drop had its premiere in March at the 2025 SXSW (South by Southwest) Film & TV Festival. Sklenar attended the event and appeared on the red carpet with his co-star, Meghann Fahy.

A month after its debut at the festival, Drop hit the cinemas across the stateside to rave reviews. The Christopher Landon-directed film has 83% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer. At the same time, Drop has a Metascore of 66 on Metacritic.
