A source, while speaking to PEOPLE, addressed that co-stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot have "nothing in common." More controversies around Disney's reimagining of Snow White emerge as the movie hits theaters on March 21.

While Rachel Zegler, 23, is half-Colombian from her mother's side and half-Polish from her father's side, Gal Gadot, 39, is Israeli.

"on top of that, their political views differ, adding to the tension."

Both actresses have expressed strong opinions on the Israel-Palestine war. Zegler took to X to write "Free Palestine" after the release of the Snow White trailer. While speaking to Variety earlier, the actress said,

"I can't watch children die. I don't think that should be a hot take."

Gal Gadot, on the other hand, is of Israeli origin and has spoken publicly about the atrocities committed by the Palestine uprising Hamas against Israel. Gadot had also previously served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which is pro-Israel.

Gadot also did not respond to Rachel Zegler's pro-Palestine comments but instead took to her Instagram story with a photo of Martin Luther King Jr. with his quote: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness..." after the release of Snow White's first trailer.

"We are not always going to have the same feelings" - says Rachel Zegler

Disney's reimagination of Snow White has received backlash for its choice in casting a half-Latina while the character itself has the word "white" in it. Rachel Zegler had responded to the backlash and criticism in a recent interview with Vogue Mexico, where she said,

"I interpret people's feelings about this film as their passions for (the Snow White character) and what an honor to be a part of something that people are so passionate about. We are not always going to have the same feelings as everyone around us and all that we can do is do our best."

Gadot was also reportedly absent from a VIP event of the movie in a remote Spanish castle with limited press while Zegler gave performances. Gadot also responded to fan criticism over the casting while speaking to Andrew Garfield for Variety's Actors on Actors series in 2022.

Gadot recalled the angry reactions of people and said they "need to educate" the people and "love into awareness." She also added that they "need to love them in the right direction" and said that at the end of the day, she has a "job to do" that she's "really excited for."
