Snow White has received a special disclaimer on IMDb, which says,
"Our rating mechanism has detected unusual voting activity on this title."
It comes in the wake of excessive negative reviews on the website. The ratings have plummeted since the movie hit theaters on March 21, 2025. At this point, it's not news that this Disney live-action remake has been a critical and commercial failure, riddled with several controversies. However, they have also impacted its IMDb rating, which is 1.5 out of 10 at the time of writing this article.
The website noticed a pattern of users rating the movie lower to impact its overall rating. This "review-bombing" has severely affected the movie's ratings on this website, generated with user responses. It is a result of a combination of factors, including the aforementioned controversies and the less-than-favorable reception to the movie.
The Snow White remake currently holds a 40% rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on reviews from 236 critics. The Critics Consensus reads:
"Snow White is hardly a grumpy time at the movies thanks to Rachel Zegler's luminous star turn, but its bashful treatment of the source material along with some dopey stylistic choices won't make everyone happy, either."
On the other hand, the PopCornmeter, which comes from the verified ratings of casual movie-goers, is 74%. Based on their collected responses, the Audience Consensus reads:
"Disney’s Snow White may not be the fairest incarnation of them all, but its benign song and spirit may make you hum along all the same."
Snow White gets flagged with a disclaimer on IMDb
Controversies might have become synonymous with Disney's latest live-action Snow White remake, which holds a whopping $270 million production budget, making it difficult to recover in the coming weeks. With the criticisms related to the opinions about the movie's two leads, the movie has performed dismally at the box office.
Audiences have also shared their concerns online, including on IMDb, the movie database website that allows people to rate and review movies. Due to a reported "review-bombing," the movie has just been flagged with a disclaimer. It comes in the wake of the negative reception of the movie from the critics.
Observer (UK)'s Wendy Ide wrote,
"A film made by people with cartoon dollar signs for eyes and not even the tiniest glimmer of art in their souls."
Slate's Nadira Goffe said,
"Gadot’s performance is easily the biggest failure of the movie. There are no words for me to describe how absolutely abhorrent she is in the role of the Evil Queen."
AV Club's Jacob Oller said,
"A disorienting take on a film whose success relied as much on its elegance as its beauty, and yet, thanks to sunny songstress Rachel Zegler, there is a talented throughline still obvious amidst the mess."
