Skai Jackson welcomes first child: All you need to know

Skai Jackson is officially a mommy! Jackson, The Disney Channel star, who rose to the public eye after appearing on Jessie and its spinoff Bunk’d shared the news only two short months after first confirming her pregnancy in an interview with People. “I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter in my life. My heart is so full!” Jackson shared with the outlet.

Skai went on to reveal the name of her little bundle of joy, a baby boy named Kasai by way of an adorable Instagram Post. She welcomes this blessing alongside her boyfriend Deondre Burgin, publicly known as Yerkky Yerkky.

In response, Skai’s 9 million followers have shown an outpour of love and heartfelt positivity to the news. Even celebrities like Keke Palmer, and City Girls rapper JT have taken to social media to welcome baby Kasai to the world via the star’s comments section. It should be noted that while her baby is pictured above, Skai made a concerted effort not to share the infant's face.

In preparation for motherhood, Jackson credits her relationship with her mother Kiya Cole for providing her with the tools to navigate this life-changing development. Having been raised by a single mother, Skai certainly has a unique perspective on how she wants to raise her child in today’s world.

"[My mom] always taught me to stand up for myself, stand up for what I believe in and fight for what is right,” she told People. “I thank her for that because without her, I probably wouldn't have a lot of the confidence that I do now.”

Post her Disney success, the 22-year-old phenom notably published her debut book, Reach for the Skai: How to Inspire, Empower and Clapback in 2019. She also famously appeared on Dancing With the Stars in 2020. More recently she was also seen on the big screen in horror-thriller The Man in the White Van alongside Sean Astin and Ali Larter.
