Fans just got to see the first look at Giancarlo Esposito playing the MCU villain Sidewinder in Captain America: Brave New World. Also known as Seth Voelker, Esposito's villain is seen being in a gun duel with Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson as shots are being fired all around them.
Sidewinder is a key MCU villain and is making his debut with this new film. Fans have awaited his inclusion in the on-screen adaptations for so long, and the first glimpse at the MCU villain has certainly raised anticipation among fans.
As the leader of the terrorist organization, Serpent Society, Voelkov will play an integral role against Captain America in Brave New World. Esposito has also teased that his role will continue beyond the film, widening the prospects of Sidewinder being a part of future projects as well.
The actor is known for his stellar portrayals of villains in films. He has previously played Gustavo Fring in Breaking Bad and Stan Edgar in The Boys. Knowing his range and talent, Voelkov will certainly be an exciting addition to the franchise.
More details on Captain America: Brave New World
Anthony Mackie is finally making his debut as Captain America as Chris Evans' Steve Rogers exits the franchise and hands over the shield to Mackie's Sam Wilson. Previously known as The Falcon, Wilson will be seen getting into action as he protects the world from a terror plot and picks up the shield for the first time.
The official plot synopsis of the film reads,
"Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, finds himself in the middle of an international incident and must discover the motive behind a nefarious global plan."
Harrison Ford is also debuting as President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, and mighty villain Red Hulk, one of the more exciting parts of Captain America: Brave New World. Apart from that, the film will start off the fifth phase for Marvel, opening the doors to many future projects that will take birth after the events of Captain America: Brave New World.
In an interview with Esquire, Anthony Mackie teased the awesomeness of Captain America: Brave New World, as he said,
“It’s literally the best movie it can be. It stays in the lines of Marvel. It stays in the lines of Captain America, and it’s fun and it’s big.”
The film is being directed by Julius Onah and being produced by Kevin Feige.
Captain America: Brave New World will hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
