Sicario, written by Taylor Sheridan, is currently trending in the viewership charts on Netflix. The thriller film, directed by iconic Dune director, Denis Villeneuve, was a major critical success upon its release. It currently holds a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which reflects how much the critics appreciated Sheridan and Villeneuve's world-building. However, it is a true testament to their collaboration that the film has entered Netflix's Top 10 charts nearly 10 years after its release.

Another reason to appreciate this success is the fact that this film entered these weekly viewership charts within a day of its debut on Netflix. The film arrived on the streamer on May 1 and quickly rose to the #8 rank in its United States charts between February 24 and March 2. It goes on to show the longevity of a well-crafted film as it stands tall against its competitors—even a decade later after its theatrical premiere.

Sicario has become a streaming hit since it achieved a glowing spot in Netflix's viewership charts for the United States. It has only been a week since its participation in this list, but it may not be the last. The film is not a conventional action-thriller focusing on action and violence. Taylor Sheridan's script offers depth and intensity in its sleek narrative that shows a female FBI agent getting exposed to harsh realities during her mission involving drug cartels.

The other thrillers on this list, besides Sicario, are Maika Monroe-led Watcher, Shailene Woodley-led To Catch a Killer, and the Spanish-language film, Counterattack. The rest of the list mainly includes installments from known film franchises like Venom: The Last Dance, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Ted, and Despicable Me 4. Since the Taylor Sheridan film secured its position briefly after its Netflix debut, it might stay there in the coming weeks.

Taylor Sheridan has now established himself in the American entertainment landscape with his Yellowstone-universe shows like 1923 and 1883. He has been actively working in television shows, working behind the scenes on shows like Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Landman, and Lioness. However, his first writing credit, per IMDb, is the Denis Villeneuve directorial.

Whether Sicario or Hell or High Water, Taylor Sheridan's scripts have often received praise from the critics and love from the audience. Reportedly, the 2015 film, made for $30 million was also a commercial success, earning nearly $85 million. This film, starring Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, and Jon Bernthal, is available to watch on the streaming giant.
