Podcaster Joe Rogan shared his thoughts about Katy Perry’s Blue Origin space mission. On April 19, 2025, he sat down with comedian Tim Dillon on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. As the podcast began, Dillon asked Rogan how he felt, to which the podcaster replied that he felt better as the ladies returned from space. He added:
“Well, it was very profound. I don't know if you've seen Katy Perry talk about it but she's basically a guru now.”
Joe Rogan talked about the daisy flower Katy Perry took with her, pointing out how short the space flight must have been since the flower, even after being cut from its roots, looked fresh. Tim Dillon chimed in, saying that the passengers floated in space for around ten minutes before returning.
Rogan emphasized that the moment shouldn’t be undermined, especially because female astronauts were involved. He compared it to the traditional route male astronauts usually have to take: attending school, learning to fly, joining the Air Force or Navy, getting selected by NASA, and finally going to space.
Speaking about another female astronaut who was stuck in space, without mentioning her name, Rogan said:
“The problem with that story is that she was rescued by a very awful person who wants to expose fraud and waste.”
Joe Rogan commented that Katy Perry appeared ready for anything, even death, and compared her to a soldier. He also pointed out that the hatch on the craft wasn’t like a real spaceship hatch, since, in his view, the flight didn’t go into space the way traditional space missions do.
Joe Rogan’s take on the mission and the lack of heat shields
During he interview, Joe Rogan brought up the idea of listening to Katy Perry talk about space. Tim Dillon mentioned that he had heard her say something like, "We weren’t taking space, we were making space," which he found interesting.
Later, Joe Rogan laughed and remarked that it's funny when people sound overly serious or pretentious, probably because it makes you worry that you might sound that way too someday.
Joe Rogan also explained that the group only reached the edge of space, not deep space, where re-entry is much more dangerous. He said that when people travel far out into space, they need special heat shields to survive re-entry, because the intense heat can be deadly if those shields fail. In this case, though, they were just at the edge of Earth’s atmosphere.
Katy Perry on the Blue Origin mission and her love of daisies
Meanwhile, after returning from the Blue Origin mission, Katy Perry shared her experience, saying:
“I feel super connected to love. So connected to love I think this experience has shown me you never know how much love is inside of you like how much love you have to give and how loved you are until the day you launch.”
When Katy Perry was asked why she chose to take a daisy with her to space, she explained that daisies, although simple and common, were a symbol of strength and resilience because they could grow even in tough conditions like cracks in cement or walls.
To her, flowers represented divine beauty, like a smile from God, and served as a reminder of Earth’s natural magic. She felt the daisy symbolized the importance of appreciating, remembering, and protecting the beauty of the world.
