Salma Hayek will be seen in the role of Nina in Angelina Jolie's upcoming war drama, Without Blood.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hayek revealed that Jolie, who directed this film, was the one who convinced her to take on the role after her initial hesitation. The actress said:

"I didn't want to do the movie. I didn't want to be Nina. I didn't want to go to the places that she's been, emotionally."

Based on Alessandro Baricco's book of the same name, the movie showcases the war's impact on Nina. The actress also added that it had taken her "so many years" to get where she is currently and that she didn't want to "go suffer for weeks and weeks." Hayek also mentioned that the film was a "very complicated piece for an actor" and caused a lot of emotional turmoil.

"Yoiu have to be at the edge every single day, every single hour of the day while you're playing this character. And there's nowhere to hide. There's not a lot of action happening. If for one second you are not there, it is going to be very clear."

However, Jolie eventually convinced her to play the part. While commenting on Jolie's directorial skills, the veteran actress said:

"This is the best actors' director I've ever worked with,” she admitted. “I've never felt so valued. She knew I was the right actress. I didn't even know I was the right actress at the moment.”

"She's demanding" - says Salma Hayek on Angelina Jolie as a director

While speaking about her experience on the sets of the war drama, she revealed what it was like to work with the actor-director.

The film also features Jolie's two sons Maddox, 23, and Pax 20.

"She's demanding. They (Maddox and Pax) got the respect of the crew, and they were good with the crew, and they were very in their place."

Hayek mentioned that her sons did not treat her in the way they would treat her outside the set and were "very professional." She added that they worked hard and "are very serious about what they do."

Despite Hayek trying to be playful with them during the start of the production, she realized that she needed to change her attitude and treat them like professionals.

The world premiere for Without Blood was scheduled at the International Toronto Film Festival on September 8.
