“She holds up a mirror” - Ashlyn Harris opens up about her relationship with girlfriend Sophia Bush

Ashlyn Harris recently opened up about how her girlfriend, Sophia Bush, helps her feel seen and accepted. During her appearance on the Second Wind Podcast, the two-time World Cup champion commented on how Bush makes her realize things about herself and boosts her confidence. She said:

"She holds up a mirror."

Ashlyn Harris was previously in a relationship with Ali Krieger, her former teammate at USWNT. The couple met in 2009 and later got married in 2019. They were married for four years, until their divorce in 2023. The former couple has two children, Sloane, born in 2021, and Ocean, born in 2023, whom they coparent following their split.

Ashlyn Harris during her appearance on Second Wind Podcast, revealed how much her children mean to her and how, during her relationship with Sophie Bush, the "Chicago P.D.," actor has made her realize that she is a good parent to her two children, something that helped her overcome the immense pressure she puts on herself. She said:

“I think as a mom, we all can sit here and say, we always think we're failing … I made a promise that my kids wouldn't feel the same kind of pain that I did as a kid and I put a lot of pressure on myself, and she's just like, you are the best mom. I just have never seen someone move and act the way you do.'”

Harris further added that she previously did not believe she would actually find someone like Sophia Bush, adding that at times, the relationship feels like something out of a storybook.

"What I love so much about her is she makes me feel the way I only thought we read about in books."

Previously, the soccer star had posted pictures of her children with Sophia Bush. In her post on Instagram, Harris wrote:

"May I always be their soft place to land, the quiet light when the world feels loud.For in their laughter and little hands, I’ve found my refuge—the place where my heart rests and rises all at once. ⚓️."

During the interview, Ashlyn Harris added that Sophia Bush always assures her of her capabilities as a parent, which in turn heals a part of herself that is filled with trauma from the past. She said:

"[She] makes me feel like I'm the best human, I'm the best mother, and it's exactly what I needed and what I need to heal so much pain and trauma and grief in my life."

Sophia Bush was previously married to actor Grant Hughes, and connected with Harris following her divorce. The player adds that both of them found each other at the most perfect time, noting that despite reeling from the aftereffects of her divorce, the "One Tree Hill" actor helped Ashlyn Harris heal. She said:

"And it's this type of reassurance that she came into my life when I was an open wound and she's so selfless and such a beautiful person that even in the hardest season of her life, she wants to help me heal, which is something I'll never forget,”

She further doubled down on how Sophia Bush makes her life better in every way. She said:

"She's just made my life so much richer. I don't even know how to express it or articulate it."

According to People Magazine, Ashlyn Harris and Sophia Bush began a relationship in 2023, following their divorces from their respective partners.
