Taylor Swift knows how to woo her fans. Her The Eras Tour book, carrying details about behind-the-scenes has taken the internet by storm. She wrote a note to her fans expressing gratitude for making the tour a welcoming and inclusive space filled with joy, friendship, and shared traditions.

However, amidst the singer’s glory, her fans, who are called ‘Swifties,’ have become the bone of contention for their alleged racist behavior towards Beyonce. The drama unfolded after Billboard released the list of the greatest 21st century pop stars which placed Beyonce on the top.

Swifties responded to the news with hateful and racist remarks, which further triggered a counter-response from the Halo singer’s fans, who have started a #SwiftieRacism movement on X. In light of these developments, social media users appeared unhappy with Taylor Swift as she did not address the issue. One X user commented,

“She addresses everything but the elephant in the room.”

Netizens criticized Swift for not reacting to the racist comments her fans made against Beyonce, while others felt that her concerts failed to provide a safe space.

“So instead of addressing it, she’s thanking her fans? #swiftieracism,” a netizen pointed out.
“This is a fandom that doesn’t make everyone feel included. Interesting choice of works. #swiftieracism is NOT inclusive,” a person reacted on X.
“Definitely not a safe place for black or brown people,” a social media user wrote.

Social media users expressed love for Taylor Swift, while others called out her fans.

“awwh the boyhood is so real it’s been a big part of my life,” an online user wrote.
“We love you queen,” a Swiftie commented.
“After all the racism from the swifties none of this is true. Taylor and the swifties are a joke. #swiftieracism,” an internet user mentioned.

Netizens claimed Taylor Swift’s fans were prejudiced against singers like Beyonce

According to The Express Tribune, this was not the first time that such an incident has come to light. Previously, there had been repeated instances of discrimination, particularly when Black artists like SZA competed with Taylor Swift for recognition. These incidents often highlighted the underlying racism and misogyny towards Black artists.

As the hashtag movement gained momentum, Beyonce’s fans or ‘Beyhive’ and others highlighted systemic racism within the Swiftie fanbase, pointing to a persistent pattern of prejudice.

In her book, Taylor Swift mentioned that she shared her idea with her team while working on the Midnights album in 2022. However, instead of embarking on a standard Midnights tour, she sought something different, preferring to avoid repeating past approaches.

Re-recording her albums rekindled her appreciation for her catalog, inspiring her to create a tour that honored both the music and her fans. Swift envisioned an ambitious show featuring "time capsules" for each era, designed to celebrate both longtime supporters and newer audiences.

Taylor Swift's goal was to fully embrace each era through music, style, and aesthetics, crafting the longest and most ambitious set of her career. Despite her excitement, she initially questioned how she could perform 45 songs live over a three-hour, 15-minute show each night.
