After the massive success of A Minecraft Movie, Jason Momoa is all set to star as Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The actor, known for his portrayal of headstrong characters across several franchises will be the first ever actor to bring DC's Lobo to life, and the first look already looks pretty promising.

A sneak peek into a fight scene from the upcoming movie is making rounds on social media where blurry footage of Momoa can be seen as he is dressed up as the character and is indulged in a tense scene.

In the clip, Lobo seems to have long hair, white skin, boots, and his trademark leather jacket underneath a big cape. The clip shows him fighting someone, although it doesn't show who. Additionally, it appears that he's using something to fight his adversary, which might be his iconic chains from the comics that will most likely be added later through CGI.

The clip has made fans all the more excited for the film, as it's set to come out after the release of Superman. In other news, DC has also revealed the brand new logo for the Supergirl film, which is pretty accurate to the comics and looks absolutely promising.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow stars Milly Alcock as the titular character and will be the second film under James Gunn's reign at the DCEU. The film is releasing in 2026 and is a part of the studio's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

Jason Momoa has often spoken about about how Lobo is his dream character and how much it means to him to get to portray the villain on screen. Momoa is known for his brave choices with films as he has continued to play physical demanding characters on screens. Knowing that, his role as Lobo would not be any different.

Talking to Screen Rant in an interview in March 2025, the actor has said:

"Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play. That’s the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike’s really cool."

In another interview with Entertainment Weekly in March 2025, Momoa said:

"I just think I'm the right person to play the role. Born to do it. If we're going to typecast me in anything, let's put me in Lobo. Motorcycles, smoking cigars, partying, dreadlocks… loves a fight, funny."

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
