YouTuber Johnny Somali, notorious for his controversial behavior, has come under fire in South Asia for his provocative remarks and the use of illicit substances.
Somali, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, stirred up controversy when he kissed South Korea’s "Comfort Women," a memorial that honored the victims forced into s*xual slavery during the Japanese wartime.
The self-proclaimed sociopath also passed inappropriate remarks about the value the monument holds to the locals, and then danced about indecently. Furthermore, the YouTuber also wreaked havoc everywhere he went in South Korea, such as while traveling on buses, he blared North Korean songs and played other lewd music.
Footage of his antics have been doing the rounds online, and many users took to X to condemn his behavior. One user even went so far as to suggest:
"Send him to the north."
The rest of the internet also weighed in:
"I think Johnny Somali qualifies as one of the worst names in history that alone is a death sentence," somebody joked.
"Bro the Koreans don't play. They hate this man, he stands no chance in prison," another asserted.
"South korea is doing a service to the world. Make an example of what happens when you mess around like he did," yet another opined.
"It's going to be hilarious when he blows all of his money to flee, only to be arrested and brought back from a neighboring countries airport," somebody else posited.
The reactions didn't stop there:
"Hope he dont get out of this one to be so honest," one user stated.
"It takes effort to find trouble in Korea. He really put in work," another user claimed.
"Boys, the world is healing," someone tweeted.
"So much good news today!" one user declared.
Virtually everyone online was disappointed with Johnny Somali's behavior, to say the least.
A look at some of Johnny Somali's clashes with the law
Johnny Somali's antics have since prompted the local police to intervene. He is currently being detained, and according to South Korean news outlet Koreaboo, the YouTuber is under investigation. He has also been hit with a travel ban, imposed by South Korean law enforcement.
According to multiple outlets, he has been hit with disrupting public order, assault, trespassing, and other offenses related to substances. Should he be found guilty, the streamer is looking at up to a decade in prison.
Notably, this isn't the media personality's first stint to cause an uproar. Just this April, Johnny Somali came under fire for harassing a female Israeli police officer. On a livestream, he was heard directing lewd and obscene comments at her.
An investigation was consequently executed, and Somali was apprehended on suspicion of interfering with a police officer in the performance of duty. He was also hit with charges relating to insulting a public servant, rioting in a public place, and violation of privacy.
Johnny Somali was first dubbed notorious when he went to Japan in 2023. While there, he passed several insensitive comments relating to the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In one of his earliest brushes with international law, he was prohibited from entering Japan and ordered to pay a fine of ¥200,000.
