Selena Gomez has announced her new album I Said I Love You First with her fiance and "best friend" Benny Blanco. While fans have expressed their excitement for the upcoming album, an industry colleague has also shown her support. Ariana Grande extended her support by liking Gomez's post on Instagram.

While many believe Gomez and Grande have had some tension throughout the time they have known each other, they have often clarified that things are cordial. Their recent public interactions also seemingly confirm that they support one another in the industry.

For the unversed, both Gomez and Grande started as teenage actors. Reportedly, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande's friendship dates back to 2013.

When did Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande first meet?

In December 2013, Selena Gomes and Ariana Grande both were set to perform at the annual Jingle Ball concert. While the Only Murders In The Building star experienced some technical trouble, it was believed that Grande, who took the stage next, threw shade on Gomez.

However, Ariana did not take time to clear the air via Twitter as she wrote,

"Ohhh Jesus. I wasn't throwing shade AT ALL I didn't even see anyone else's set. I was sick backstage that's why I didn't even do the carpet."

She further argued that she was "just cracking a joke 'cause my mic was off."

Later on, in 2015, Selena released her album Revival which received a lot of love from Ariana. The latter tweeted that the album was "so effing good."

A year later, the two pop stars shared a cordial moment at the American Music Awards 2016 as they hugged. During a chat with Entertainment Tonight, Ariana said that Selena looked like a princess, and as she saw her coming, she gave her a tight hug.

Selena Gomez reacted to Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's engagement

In July 2018, Gomez was busy promoting her movie Hotel Transylvania 3 in which she was the voice of Mavis. When asked what Mavis would have to say about Grande and Davidson's engagement, Gomez said,

"I honestly don't know what Mavis would say, but I would say that it's amazing and beautiful," per Cosmopolitan.

Over the years, the two have showered one another with love. When Selena Gomez's song "Ice Cream" with the K-pop band BLACKPINK came out, Ariana sent Selena an ice cream-shaped bouquet.

On the other hand, the Emilia Pérez star often shares Instagram stories in which she could be seen having private jamming sessions on Grande's songs. At the Academy Women's Luncheon, the two sat together and posed for pictures.

The two also shared a quick hug at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards.

They also met at the 40th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival and shared some time with Fernanda Torres. Their meeting on the red carpet of the film festival is also being talked about as Selena gave a peck on Ariana's shoulder upon seeing her.
