The seventh installment of the Scream film is looking particularly exciting. More and more details surrounding the film are shaping up, garnering excitement among fans for the newest addition of the horror film.
The iconic Ghostface, which has now become a symbol of the film, will be making a comeback, and a familiar actor is taking its place. Matthew Lillard’s Stu Macher from 1996's Scream is set to make a comeback along with the villain from Scream 3, played by Scott Foley.
Foley was one of the villains that stood out in the franchise, mainly because his character was intense and went into a killing spree of several people. He also had a more complicated storyline, and fans are wondering under what circumstances they'll see him again.
Because of how he died in the film, Foley may also be a ghost. His return would indeed be surprising for the plotline. Nevertheless, all the details look as shiny as ever, and fans hope this will be a chilling ride.
More details on Scream 7
The movie has undergone many setbacks, particularly after two of its leading heroines exited from the project. Melisa Barrera was removed from the franchise in 2024, and Jenna Ortega followed suit in solidarity following backlash from the film's creators.
Jasmin Savoy Brown, Courteney Cox, and Neve Campbell have been confirmed to be a part of the upcoming film, but reports of more stars joining the team have also been consistent. Mark Consuelos recently joined the cast of Scream 7, along with McKenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Celeste O'Connor. Although their roles have not yet been revealed, the cast looks star-studded.
The film's synopsis and plot details have been kept under wraps, so we don't know what horrors Scream 7 will unleash. Regardless, considering the cast, creators, and the film's legacy, it's guaranteed to be spooky.
Scream 7 is written by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the scripts of the previous films. This will be the first time Williamson is directing. Christopher Landon was previously set to direct the movie, but later, he exited the project, and Williamson took over. Speaking of his departure, he said,
“I guess now is as good a time as any to announce I formally exited Scream 7 weeks ago. This will disappoint some and delight others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. And my heart did break for everyone involved. Everyone. But it’s time to move on. I have nothing more to add to the conversation other than I hope Wes’ legacy thrives and lifts above the din of a divided world. What he and Kevin created is something amazing and I was honored to have even the briefest moment basking in their glow.”
Scream 7 is hitting theaters on 27th February 2026.
