Scarlett Johansson reveals why she won't join Instagram to promote Jurassic World Rebirth. The Avengers star has stayed distant from X and Instagram for a very good reason. She is not changing her stance for her latest tentpole project.

“I get a lot of pressure to join social media. [It does make me think]… is there a way where I could do this and stay true to who I am? It didn’t feel like I could.”

Johansson told an InStyle magazine journalist during their recent conversation. She also spoke about the studio's request for her to be present on Instagram.

“I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal [Pictures], and they’re like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of “Jurassic World Rebirth?”‘

At a time when artists are highly active on social media, Johansson is one of the rare Hollywood stars who choose to stay away and stay faithful to their old-school dedication to their art.

“The work that I put out there is all based in truth. That’s the key ingredient. So if I was a person who really enjoyed social media, then I could totally get on the bandwagon. But I’m not."

Johansson doesn't think her absence from Instagram will affect Jurassic World Rebirth's success, as she says,

"I think the film will do fine [anyway].”

InStyle magazine has published a feature piece about Scarlett Johansson ahead of the release of Jurassic World Rebirth. Johansson's latest tentpole project has been widely discussed for obvious reasons—it is part of a massive franchise that began in 1993 and comes with tremendous fanfare.

At a time when social media is at its peak, studios often expect stars to be active on social media platforms. It usually helps actors stay in touch with fans, which, in turn, aids in the publicity of their projects. However, according to the InStyle piece, Scarlett Johansson is not getting on this bandwagon. Instead, she hopes her work reflects her truth.

This is not the first time the Academy Award-winning star has spoken about her views on social media. In 2023, during her appearance on The Skinny Confidential podcast, she revealed why she avoids social media. She detailed how she felt she was missing out on things after spending too much time looking at someone’s Instagram page.

"I'm too fragile of a person to keep a tap on social media. I can't...my ego is too fragile. I have enough anxiety and [social media] would give me so much anxiety, [so] I can't. It's overwhelming."

Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, is scheduled to be released on July 2, 2025.
