Sam Hunt was reportedly arrested outside of Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday, January 20, 2025. According to TMZ, authorities pulled Hunt over for overspeeding and sent him to jail for violating an interlock device.

For those unaware, Sam Hunt is a country singer and songwriter known for "Body Like a Back Road,” "Downtown's Dead,” "Drinkin' Too Much," and many more. Interestingly, Hunt’s "Drinkin' Too Much” can also be considered his most personal track. He apparently wrote the song for his then-girlfriend and now-wife, Hannah Lee Fowler, while highlighting the ups and downs of their relationship.

Fowler has been married to Hunt since 2017, and together, they are parents to two children—a daughter and a son. However, their rollercoaster of a relationship dates back to the 2000s. Sam Hunt played football in high school and college before turning into a musician. He was a member of the UAB Blazers between 2005 and 2007 and lived in Birmingham. It is here that he first met Fowler, and the couple started dating.

The couple went on to have an on-and-off relationship and ultimately married in 2017. The couple almost split while being married but reconciled months later.

Despite their breakups and patch-ups, the couple has stayed together for more than a decade. Hunt, who commenced his musical career in 2014, released his debut album, Montevallo, the same year. Coincidentally, it was named after the hometown of his then-former girlfriend and future wife, Hannah Lee Fowler.

In a 2015 interview with Billboard, Hunt talked about his ex-girlfriend’s influence on his music, as he was quoted saying,

“I spent a lot of time talking to her about the songs and asking, ‘What do you think about this?’ Her perspective was a powerful part of me being able to connect with a female audience, not just a male audience.”

The following year, Hunt was pictured alone on the CMT Music Awards red carpet at the Bridgestone Arena. When asked about being single, Sam Hunt answered affirmatively. However, a couple of months later, the couple reportedly patched up again and was spotted together in Hawaii.

Ultimately, Hunt and Fowler got engaged in January 2017, around the same time the singer dropped his track "Drinkin' Too Much.” In April, the pair finally married, but their relationship was met with another hurdle in February 2022 when Hannah filed for a divorce. Fortunately for their relationship, Fowler withdrew the case in April, according to PEOPLE.

The couple also announced the gender of their firstborn in March 2022, who was born in May. More than a year later, Hunt and Fowler welcomed their second child in December 2023.

In 2022, Sam Hunt also opened up about the impact that becoming a father had on his life. During his appearance on the Katie & Company podcast, the "Hard to Forget" artist said,

"[Becoming a father] has given me such a sense of purpose — at home and out on the road. A new appreciation for life in general. I think I leveled up overnight, evolved 10 or 20 years overnight.”

He further added,

"Just staring at her, watching her grow little by little because when I leave I realize how much she is growing ... And I'm missing a little bit of it, but when I'm home I make sure not to miss any of it. So I've been really enjoying being around her and her mom, and just experiencing the whole miracle of being a new dad."

Hunt, who was reportedly arrested for speeding and violating an interlock device (by refusing a breathalyzer), will not be charged, a TMZ report mentioned. He was apparently arrested and released on the same day after paying a bail bond of $1,500. TMZ has now reported that only a speeding ticket was issued to the country singer, which he will pay.

It was not the first time the country singer was arrested for a traffic rule violation. In 2019, authorities apprehended him for allegedly driving under the influence (DUI), and he was later found guilty. His driving license was suspended for a year, while the court initially sentenced him to 11 months and 29 days.

Later, under a plea agreement, the court reduced his sentence to 48 hours at a DUI Education Center.
