Salvable: Shia LaBeaouf to make his big screen return as Lionsgate drops a sneak peek into the upcoming action film

Lionsgate recently released a sneak peek into the upcoming boxing crime-drama Salvable, and a well-known face is making his big screen return.

It is none other than Transformers star Shia LaBeauf. The newly launched trailer has given us glimpses of the dramatic journey of an aspiring Irish boxer named Sal, portrayed by Toby Kebbell.

Shi LaBeaouf graces the screen with his presence as an ex-prisoner (Vince) with all sorts of connections to criminal activities. His influence on Sal's life as a boxer drives the former on a dangerous path where he must choose between his daughter's well-being and his professional career. Björn Franklin is at the helm of the project alongside Johnny Marchetta. Salvable is set for a theatrical release this May.

A synopsis of Salvable, per People, reads:

"When a battered boxer past his prime finds his dreams and his relationships on the ropes, he falls back in with a dangerous crowd and has to take the biggest swing of his life to reclaim his hope and his family."

Salvable's first look portrays the dramatic chronicles of a boxer, Sal, and one of his old mates, Vince whose return after serving a prison sentence turns his life upside down. Sal has a daughter(Molly - played by Kila Lord Cassidy) to raise and protect. Standing at the edge of his career, taking risks is the last thing he wants.

However, it seems Sal is not ready to give up on his dream so quickly. He starts intense training with bare knuckles—all for the sake of making a big fortune out of one underground boxing tournament that he needs to win. Sal makes it to the ring soon enough, but Vince's presence invites other dangers into his life.

He finds it difficult to balance his family and career but goes on for one last shot at his last dance as a boxer. The plot is further being kept under wraps as Salvable aims for a May 2 premiere in the U.K. as well as Ireland. Shia LaBeauof will lead the cast alongside co-stars Toby Kebbell, Elaine Cassidy, James Cosmo and Aiysha Hart. A known face, Carl Froch (former boxing star), will also appear on the big-screen in the role of Sal's trainer.

Grindstone Entertainment is currently overseeing distribution for Salavable in association with Vertical. The movie was reportedly filmed in early 2024, mostly in Barry (a small town located in Wales).
