Ryan Reynolds commemorated a full decade of himself stepping into Wade Wilson's shoes in three films - Deadpool (2016), Deadpool 2 (2018), and finally, Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). On March 20, 2025, the actor shared on X a 32-second-long black-and-white montage of himself portraying Deadpool in three films;
Of course, keeping in mind Reynolds' humor, on or off-screen, the post was made with a sprinkle of his usual comedic timing. The video featured montages from all three Deadpool films which were sped up and played backwards. One gets to see Wade Wilson as he last appeared on the big screen, his journey traced back in about half a minute, with the video ending on the scene where Wilson breaks the fourth-wall and appears before his audience for the first time, speaking to them directly.
Captioning the video, Reynolds wrote,
A decade really zips by. Deadpool started filming 10 years ago.
As a franchise, Deadpool remains one of Ryan Reynolds' most beloved works on-screen. The 48-year-old actor has spent three entire projects in the black and red suit as Marvel's antihero-mercenary, with his latest appearance being on Deadpool & Wolverine alongside Hugh Jackman. The film has been an immense success, both in terms of box-office numbers and fan appreciation. Being the third film released in the franchise, it grossed $1.338 billion worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2024, the highest-grossing R-rated film ever, and the 20th-highest-grossing film ever.
Ryan Reynolds' upcoming projects

After the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds is all set to star in an upcoming R-rated comedy film Animal Friends alongside Jason Momoa. Apart from that, the actor is also to star in several other upcoming projects, including Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley's Mayday, Paul King's Everyday Parenting Tips, and Rawson Marshall Thurber's Red Notice 2 & 3.
As for him reprising his role in another Deadpool film, the actor has been skeptical. Speaking with Andrew Garfield on Variety Studio's Actors on Actors, Reynolds talked about how he views Deadpool as more of a supporting character now. He states,
“If he comes back, it’s gonna be in someone else’s movie. Channing Tatum...I would happily be a fifth banana in his movie or anyone else’s.”
The actor has also been a part of the speculations on his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and whether or not he will be a part of the upcoming Avengers film. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the former Green Lantern actor opens up on whether he sees Deadpool joining the Avengers anytime soon. Reynolds elaborates:
There are no updates to share just yet. But I trust Kevin and [Marvel exec] Lou D’Esposito with my life. The character trait I love most about Deadpool is that he’s a fanboy. His enthusiasm and longing to be part of a team is really endearing to me. It’s his overarching wish-fulfillment story. But I don’t think he should ever be an Avenger or an X-Man. If he becomes either, we’re at the end.
The Deadpool films are available to watch on Disney+.
