The British comedian and actor Russell Brand has been charged with r*pe and s*xual assault. The UK-based comedian, who is also a renowned media personality and podcaster, gained prominence as an actor after moving to Hollywood.
According to the Irish Examiner, London's Metropolitan Police have charged the actor/comedian, Brand, with multiple counts of r*pe and s*xual assault, including two counts of r*pe, two counts of s*xual assault, oral r*pe, and indecent assault, relating to four different women. However, the 49-year-old actor has denied all accusations and claimed that all of his s*xual relationships were "absolutely always consensual."
As per People Magazine, Russell Brand will have to appear in front of the Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on May 2, 2025. As mentioned earlier, Brand, who is charged with multiple counts of r*pe and s*xual assault, is related to four separate women. However, the identity of these women remains anonymous.
In 1999, Brand allegedly r*ped a woman in London's Bournemouth area, and following that, another woman alleged that she was orally r*ped and s*xually assaulted in 2004 in Westminster.
The Get Him To A Creek actor was also charged with indecently assaulting a woman in 2001, as well as s*xually assaulting another woman between 2004-2005. Both offenses were committed in the Westminster area of London.
According to People Magazine, Andy Furphy, who is in charge of the investigation and the Detective Superintendent of the Metropolitan Police, in a statement, said:
"The women who have made reports continue to receive support from specially trained officers. The Met's investigation remains open and detectives ask anyone who has been affected by this case, or anyone who has any information, to come forward and speak with police."
Let's take a closer look at the Joint Investigation against Russell Brand

According to People Magazine, besides the four women who accused Russell Brand of r*pe and s*xual assault, there was also a 16-year-old girl who came forward to accuse him in a joint investigation that was led by The Times, The Sunday Times, and the Channel 4 current affairs documentary show Dispatches in 2023. However, when the accusations against him were made public, Brand took to Instagram, where he posted a video in which he said:
"I’ve received two extremely disturbing letters, i.e. a letter and an email, one from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper, listing a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks. But amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute."
