The comedian and former Host of The View, Rosie O'Donnell, has opened up about her recent move to Ireland for the first time, saying that moving to a new country has not been easy.

But she also stressed that she and her family believed it was the right decision for their safety and well-being. Rosie O'Donnell, 62, had earlier confirmed in March that she had relocated with her 12-year-old child, Clay, to Ireland.

In a new TikTok video, she explained her experience with moving to a new country; she talked about the positive and the negative parts of the adjustment. She said,

"It’s not easy to move to another country, and we really felt as a family this was the safest and best thing for us to do."

Even though life has changed, she feels proud of Clay being able to adapt to a new and better life. Rosie O’Donnell also stated that she had noticed a positive improvement in her mental and physical health since leaving the United States.

O’Donnell, who is in the midst of getting Irish citizenship through her grandparents, said moving has not been without its challenges. Though she appreciates the warm welcome she has received in Ireland, Rosie O'Donnell said she misses her older children, her friends, and elements of her life in the U.S.

"I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home. And I'm trying to find a home here in this beautiful country,"

But through it all, Rosie O'Donnell was grateful for the kindness of the Irish people. She also stated that she has been appreciating Irish culture and participating in events such as Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Reason for Rosie O'Donnell to leave America and Donald Trump's response

Political conditions in the U.S. were the primary factor in O’Donnell’s departure. She has been a fierce critic of President Donald Trump, with whom she has had a long-running public conflict. On her TikTok, she added that she’d been quite stressed and anxious about the political climate in America.

"I feel healthier, I’m sleeping better without the stress and anxiety over what was happening politically in the country,"

After Rosie O'Donnell announced her move, her longtime nemesis, Donald Trump, was asked about her move when meeting Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin. When a reporter asked why O’Donnell was allowed to move to Ireland, Trump replied, telling Micheál Martin:

"I like that question!, Do you know who she is? You’re better off not knowing,"

Their rivalry dates back to 2006 and has included public slurs, social media attacks, and a series of heated exchanges over the years. O’Donnell has always been a vocal critic of Trump, recently calling him “the most dangerous man of the year.”
