In an unexpected overhaul, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, David Zaslav, is looking to replace his existing film studio heads, Pamela Abdy and Michael De Luca. According to a March 30 report by The Hollywood Reporter, Zaslav is currently meeting with potential candidates who might relieve De Luca and Abdy from their present roles.

However, despite the rumors pointing out the above-mentioned incident, the official version coming down from WB Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer, Robert Gibbs, has denied the claims of an overhaul. Gibbs stated to Bloomberg:

"The rumor of an imminent leadership change at the studio is not accurate."

However, there has been no confirmation as to the ultimate fate of De Luca and Abdy at Warner Bros. As per a report by Bloomberg, the rounds of negotiations to replace the two existing film studio heads are at a nascent stage now and a final decision in this direction is yet to be taken.

Here's everything that we know.

What's the latest buzz about Warner Bros. looking to replace its film studio heads?

Despite the news of the studio actively looking to replace De Luca and Abdy, there hasn't been any sort of confirmation from the production studio themselves.

It has further been reported that De Luca and Abdy were at the receiving end of criticism for quite some time now owing to the underwhelming box-office performances of certain big-budget ventures such as Mickey 17 and Joker Folie a Deux. In their defense, it can be argued that the production and distribution of these titles were already in progress before June 2022, when De Luca and Abdy had significant influence over the decision.

What's next for Warner Bros.?

There is no doubt that Warner Bros. has been historically considered to be one of the most profitable studios to function in Hollywood. Following the disappointment of the above-mentioned films, the renowned studio is now looking forward to its release of Minecraft, which is expected to bolster its commercial numbers. Apart from this, Sinners by Ryan Coogler is scheduled to be released next.

The studio has further scheduled releases later this year, with Paul Thomas Anderson's much-awaited One Battle After Another starring Leonardo DiCaprio, marking the first instance of collaboration between the two. Also in the pipeline is the follow-up to the film Revenant by Alejandro González Iñárritu which is now eyeing a potential 2026 release date.

The shuffling of top studio executives isn't a new affair as MGM recently announced that its head Jennifer Salke was stepping down.
