Regardless of the fact that the film has recently also fallen out of the top 5 domestic chart list and is currently experiencing a sluggish revenue gain within the United States, Nosferatu and its earnings on a global scale have already outshined expectations, especially given its $50 million budget.

Box office performance: Nosferatu being a global success:

The Gothic horror film released on the 25th of December in the year 2024 in the US, has garnered worldwide applaud from audiences and critics over the past month.

Ever since its release in December of last year i.e., the latter half of 2024, Nosferatu by Robert Eggers has paved its way navigating success not just within the US but also internationally. The film has gathered around $93 million domestically as far as the 5th weekend is being considered.

While the film now being available to watch on digital platforms in the US, the domestic revenue for the film has been experiencing a visible downfall, falling down by 51.3% from the previous weekends.

Nonetheless, if we talk internationally, Nosferatu continues to function and perform extremely well. Over the fifth weekend, the rebooted horror film by Eggers earned somewhere around $4.2 million from across 61 foreign markets producing an international sum total of $73.2 million.

While mixing up the domestic figures along with the worldwide cume audience, the film has tapped in some $166.4 million, with estimates targeting a global reach somewhere between $180 million and $200 million. This notable performance converts to a return of 232.8% exceeding the film’s production expenditure.

Critical recognition and Academy Award Nominations:

Adding on to the financial accomplishment of Nosferatu, the film has also secured a whole lot of critical acclaim with it snatching away several nominations at the Oscars i.e., the 97th Academy Awards.

The Categories are inclusive of but not limited to - Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

The movie stars Bill Skarsgård (IT), Lily-Rose Depp (The Idol), and Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies) leading the film. The supporting cast includes - Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Emma Corrin (The Crown), Ralph Ineson (The Office), Simon McBurney (A Mistake), and Willem Dafoe (Spiderman).

Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu has come across as both a profitable and a critical victory, demonstrating that films made with a lesser budget can still very well take over the box office.

The film is clearly a booming success and it freezes its space as one of the largest horror films of the year 2024.

With a remarkable run along with its notable box office numbers and critical perception, the film not only hails the legacy of its forerunner but it furthermore uplifts Eggers' career to new statures and lengths.
