Actor Lukas Gage has recently confirmed the progression of a sequel to the 2024 action film Road House, as he spoke to Variety.

Road House serves as a remake of the iconic 1989 film of the same name, which starred Patrick Swayze, Ben Gazzara, Kelly Lynch, Sam Elliott, and many others.

However, the contemporary remake of the film is directed by Doug Liman, who has previously directed films including the 1996 hit movie Swingers, along with iconic films, namely The Bourne Identity (2002) and Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005), to name a few. Road House, upon its release, had gotten varied responses, receiving a rating of 6.2/10 at IMDb and an aggregate of 60% at Rotten Tomatoes.

Lucas Gage had joined the promising cast of actors in the film, which includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, Conor McGregor, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, B.K. Cannon, Post Malone, Joaquim de Almeida, and many others.

Road House follows the plot of a deeply pained Dalton, as he is burdened with a guilt from his past. He used to previously compete at the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The rest of the story follows the events that take place once he begins working at a roadhouse, being hired as their bouncer.

The synopsis of Road House as per Rotten Tomatoes reads:

In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems.

Lukas Gage confirms about development in Road House's sequel

Lukas Gage, who was one of the cast members of Road House, recently revealed to Variety about the progression of its sequel. Gage, who has previously starred in films and TV series including Euphoria (2019-present), YOU (2018-present), The White Lotus (2021-present), Down Low (2023), Smile 2 (2024), and Companion (2025), aspires to reprise his role in the sequel of Road House, even though he is uncertain about whether it shall happen or not.

Lukas Gage was all praises for the director Doug Liman and expressed his deep adoration for Jake Gyllenhaal that he has harbored since he was little. Gage also further elaborated about his wish for his character's revival in the sequel of Road House since his character Billy in the film was still alive by the end of the film, so that could be a good reason as well as a chance for Billy's continuation in its successor.

Gage also further elucidated about the scheduling challenges faced by the production in relation to the lead actor Jake Gyllenhaal's other work commitments, as he is preoccupied with his work both on stage and screen.

Gyllenhaal has joined hands with Denzel Washington in an upcoming Broadway play, that is, the Shakespearean classic 'Othello.'. On screen, he is currently on board for M. Night Shyamalan's next project, which is derived from a novel written by Nicholas Sparks.

About the current phase in the development of the sequel, Lukas Gage has stated that the making of the sequel to Road House is presently at its very preliminary stage.
