Regina Hall has landed a new role in an Amazon MGM comedy film from You're Cordially Invited director Nicholas Stoller. She will be seen alongside Zac Efron and Will Ferrell. The film was once called Judgement Day but is currently untitled. The Hollywood Reporter has shared its logline, which reads,
"The new film centers on a young convict who gets out of prison and takes an unscripted TV courtroom hostage, as he is convinced that the judge delivered a ruling that destroyed his life."
Efron is set to play the convict while Ferrell has been cast in the judge's role. No details about Hall's character have been revealed at the time of writing this article. Efron's casting was announced last month. Hall's arrival in the cast comes as the latest update.
Ferrell will also serve as one of the producers from Gloria Sanchez Productions. He will be joined by Jessica Elbaum and Alex Brown. Writer-director Stoller will also be a part of the production team, from his Stoller Global Solutions.
Regina Hall to co-star with Zac Efron and Will Ferrell in an upcoming Amazon MGM comedy
Regina Hall has bagged a new role in a new Amazon MGM comedy film. This update comes just after the streaming release of her recent project, O'Dessa. This post-apocalyptic musical debuted at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival and later arrived on Hulu. Hall stars alongside Sadie Sink, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Murray Bartlett.
Hall is also going to be a part of Paul Thomas Anderson's upcoming crime thriller, One Battle After Another. She will star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio Del Toro, Teyana Taylor, and Sean Penn. Besides these dramatic roles, Hall is widely known for her comedic work in movies like Girls Trip, Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul., and the Scary Movie series. So, her casting in Nicholas Stoller doesn't come as a surprise.
Joining Hall is Will Ferrell, who starred in director Nicholas Stoller's recent Amazon Prime comedy film with Reese Witherspoon and Geraldine Viswanathan. The rest of the cast announced so far includes Zac Efron, who recently received career-high reviews for his performance in Sean Durkin's The Iron Claw. Before this intense role, Efron made a name for himself in lighthearted comedies. The latest Amazon MGM film marks his collaboration with the studio shortly after Ricky Stanicky.
Stoller's comedic collaborations with Seth Rogen and Jason Segel are his most well-known. His upcoming film is Amazon's second courtroom-based comedy project in the recent past, after the reality hoax sitcom Jury Duty.
