Rebecca Gayheart moves to dismiss divorce from Eric Dane seven years after filing

Rebecca Gayheart and her husband, Eric Dane, seem to be reconciling. Documentation acquired by Entertainment Weekly revealed that the Beverly Hills, 90210 fame actress moved to dismiss her divorce filing.

As of the writing of this article, neither Gayheart nor Dane have released a public statement about their decision to reconcile. Gayheart’s request for dismissal comes seven years after she initially filed for divorce from Dane in 2018.

Gayheart and Dane’s decision to resolve their differences would be welcome news for their fans and well-wishers. In a statement to People Magazine, Dane had responded to his wife’s filing of divorce at the time and stated,

“After 14 years together we have decided that ending our marriage is the best decision for our family. We will continue our friendship and work as a team to co-parent our two beautiful girls as they are the most important thing in the world to us. We kindly ask that you respect our privacy during this time as we navigate the next phase of our lives.”

The celebrity couple had tied the knot in 2004 in Las Vegas after a year of dating and are parents to two daughters - Billie and Georgia.

Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane navigate trouble in their marriage

The couple’s decision to split in 2018 was not the only trouble that they had to navigate together in their marriage. In 2009, the couple became embroiled in a scandal when a private video in which Rebecca Gayheart, Eric Dane, and Miss Teen USA Kari Ann Peniche were together in a bathtub without their clothes was leaked online. The couple sought legal recourse against the website that spread the video. Gayheart and Dane also released a statement through their representative to say that the release of the video violated their privacy. In 2014, Dane addressed the scandal personally when he spoke to People Magazine and called the incident a "mistake" and a "regret".

The couple also navigated through addiction and mental illness. According to People Magazine, some time after Gayheart and Dane announced that they were expecting their second child, Dane checked into a rehab facility. The actor who became famous as “McSteamy” in Grey’s Anatomy spoke to Fox News Digital about his struggles with addiction. He shared,

“Sometimes you just hang on, you know, understand that this too shall pass. But, I never expected life, no matter what your circumstances are, to be easy all the time. So, I think understanding that, that not everything is going to be a walk in the park has certainly prepared me to put myself in the best position to whether some of the down times which, you know, they come fast and furious. But a lot of the times, all you can do is just hang on and know that its gonna pass. I no longer use substances and alcohol and things of that nature to deal with any of that stuff, good or bad.”

Rebecca Gayheart was extremely supportive of her husband during his struggles with mental illness and addiction. During the period when Dane was dealing with his depression, Gayheart shared a throwback image of the couple in happier times and called her husband her “Monday man crush.”

The latest in Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane’s story reveals that the couple is on the track to reconciliation.
