Dennis Quaid has no regrets about his marriage to Meg Ryan 24 years after the couple called it quits in 2001.

During an appearance on Who's Talking to Chris Wallace on September 6, the 70-year-old actor was asked if the combined fame of both actors put a strain on their marriage. Dennis responded by saying:

"How about that? When I met Meg I was here as far as career thing and she was here and then it just went like that."

He used his hands to indicate that Meg was more famous than he was at the time they got married.

I tried to be a big person and tell myself that didn't bother me, but people are human, She was ascending as I went into rehab and Meg is really such a great, sweet person and really talented and deserved all her success. But I don't regret anything about my marriage to Meg, and we got Jack Quaid out of it who is really going on to maybe eclipse both of us."

Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid welcomed their only child, a son, Jack Quaid in 1992.

"When we met I was the big deal" - said Dennis Quaid about his marriage to Meg Ryan

This isn't the first time Dennis Quaid has discussed the question of fame playing a role in his marriage to Meg Ryan. During an appearance on Megan Kelly TODAY, Dennis was quizzed about his former co-stars when Meg's name came up. While describing their marriage as the "most successful relationship of my life", Dennis said:

"When we met I was the big deal. We’d go out on the streets of New York and it would be like, ‘Meg! Meg!’ And I have to admit it, I actually did feel like I disappeared. I didn’t think I was that small, but I was. It was a growth opportunity — I learned from that.”

Best known for his role in The Parent Trap, Dennis Quaid's career initially took off but stalled later on while Meg Ryan's career witnessed consistent growth.

Meg and Dennis met on the sets of the 1987 sci-fi film Innerspace. After tying the knot in 1991, the couple got divorced in 2001. While talking about the split during an interview with The New York Times Magazine, Ryan said "Divorce is hard" and mentioned that it was personal and wasn't meant for mass consumption.

During a 2019 interview with Irish Independent, Dennis Quaid while talking about Meg said, "Sure I still love her."
