Jason Momoa has dropped a major update on his upcoming role as Lobo in DC's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The actor has said the character is accurate to the comics, adding that he is accompanied by his Lobo bike which he finds really cool.

Speaking to Screen Rant, the actor talked about how he felt portraying one of his favorite characters on screen. Without giving away details, Momoa said:

"Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play. That’s the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike’s really cool."

This is not the first time the actor has profssed his love for the iconic comic. in the past, Momoa had expressed interest in playing Lobo during an interview with Fandango. According to a Variety report, Momoa said in the interview:

“I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role. I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a f*ck yeah. I haven’t received that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I’m there.”

Loboi is Momoa's second outing in the DC universe, after appearing as the aquatic superhero Aquaman in Aquaman, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and Zack Snyder's Justice League.

His return to DCU has naturally excited fans, especially given his enthusiasm for the role. More details on his costum and avatar are awaited for now.

What is Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow about?

As James Gunn takes over the DCU, the Supergirl project is one of the important ones the director is working on, as it brings the iconic superheroine to life. Directed by Craig Gillespie, who is known for directing films like Lars and the Real Girl, Cruella and I, Tonya, the Supergirl film is being written for the screen by Ana Nogueira, and stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, who becomes Supergirl. The film also stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham, besides Jason Momoa as Lobo.

The project is slated to be the second film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted DC Universe, following the July 2025 release of Superman starring David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to hit theatres on June 26, 2026.
